  • Are there plans for another AMA this month @Bensonance? If so, I nominate @JohanNagel to share his learnings about jumping straight into game development cold turkey.
  • That's cold turkey with a parachute...

  • @AngryMoose Yes totally!

Would love to have you @JohanNagel ? :D

    ...behind enemy lines....
  • Ok , happy to do it

  • I'll be in Joburg next week for work, so I'll be there! :)
  • Where will the pre-meetup munchies be?
  • @garethf

    Oh yay! :D

Maybe want a slot to chat about how System Crash is going? :) You could even just convert one of your many lovely blog posts into a micro-design talk centered around System Crash? :)

Everyone just organises for themselves, either at MS or in the area.
  • I feel like all I"m doing is hearting everything so I'll actually say something: FUCK YEAH thanks everyone for being awesome :)

Ah ok, reason I ask is I have to get @garethf (AKA The Durbanite) to one of these munchie-meetups since I'm playing chauffeur. If people are just eating at MS before that's fine, I'll get the princess to the ball there :P
  • If I'd known, I'd have left much sooner!

  • I'll get the princess to the ball
So long as I'm home by midnight. That kooky old lady said bad things would happen if I wasn't.
  • I was hoping to have a fresh new version of fight-the-monster to playtest
but it looks like I won't make enough progress by tuesday.
So much to do still... :/
Looking forward to the evening though.
  • Hey guys gonna be attending this for the first time so be kind
  • Hey Everyone, if there's room for another laptop at the play-test station then I'd be more than keen to show a small 2D game I've been working on called Block Jumpers. Look forward to seeing everyone there.

  • We'll make room! But to be safe, if you have multi plug adapter/extension cord... might be good idea to bring along.

Hi All. My son really like to get into game development. Will the JHB meeting be good place to introduce him to the gamer Development community?.

    Hi @DuppA,
You didn't mention your son's age? Everyone is welcome to attend. We have a friendly engaging environment, but keep in mind that the majority of attendees are student age or older, so there's no guarantee of language being E for Everyone :)
  • That is ok, The one is BSC Student and the other is 16. I heard them and their friends talk, There is nothing we can learn them :-). Both is quite exited , We will see you there.
  • ***ATTENTION PROGRAMMERS***

If you are a programmer/engineer who knows Unity (not just someone who can script a game in Unity) or know someone who is, I need to talk to you about a really interesting opportunity, so please make sure to attend the meetup tonight where I can tell you more!

  • Hey guys so I want to try get there from the start (if traffic allows), so it'll be kicking off at 7?
  • @bundy The content starts then, yeah!

Before that is all socialising and early playtesting :).
  • Thanks all that attended last night was great getting back to a meetup.
  • Hi All. Thank you for a very interesting meeting. It was awesome to hear the speakers and their challenges with making games and views on the Gaming industry. It was a pleasure to meet you all and see forward to meet again.
  • Hi guys!

Thank you to everyone for such an awesome evening! I am really looking forward to seeing you in June - promise I'll have more to say than last night's "AA" introduction and will stick around longer to play some games! I'm going to bring the SGI-SA team along next time - it's going to be fun! Can't wait to get SGI-SA more involved in our awesome MGSA community - 'you are good people'!
    Thanked by 1Bensonance
  • Thanks @garethf and @JohanNagel for the presentations and discussions that resulted.

I think this format for the meetings is really starting to get plenty of useful information out there in a more structured manner. Thanks everyone :)

  • Thanks for the great meeting guys, the focus on business is definitely something we can do with more of, thanks to @JohanNagel and @garethf for bringing their expertise. Both inspiring - was inspiring, and still inspiring massively. Inspiring and terrifying the living bejeezuz out of me, too :)

I really hope to contribute in a more substantive sense towards the industry soon. Sooner than later :)
